Enthusiastic Participation in the coast cleaning activity “Ukibui Battle vol.159”

On the morning of Feb. 10, 2019, Coast Cleaning Group SHONAN UKIBUI held the coast cleaning activity “Ukibui Battle” on Cape Coast of Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. The representative from the Association on Study of Religions and Human Rights and five relevant personnel participated in this activity with great enthusiasm.

The coast cleaning activity began at 10 am of Feb. 10. Participants quickly spread out on the coast and actively picked up the household waste left on the beach and then sorted them into blue (for non-combustible waste) and white (for combustible waste) plastics bags distributed by SHONAN UKIBUI.

At 11 o’clock, the 3-minute weighing challenge of plastic garbage pick-up, which was organized by Coast Cleaning Group SHONAN UKIBUI, pushed the coast cleaning activity to a climax. Before the awards, the organizers explained that the small colorful plastics scattered on the beach were not left here by people, but from the city. Although they have been working hard to organize citizens to take part in coastal cleaning, yet they couldn’t stop the garbage from floating here. Through this activity, they also appealed to the participating citizens to be aware of environmental protection. In participating the garbage cleaning activity, we were deeply touched and felt the responsibility and obligation that every one of us shall fulfill in the society, and we were pleased to be able to take part in such activity that benefits people’s lives.

At 11:30, the awards began, two members from the Association on Study of Religions and Human Rights were rewarded for picking up more than 25 grams of plastic garbage within three minutes. At 12 o’clock, the coast cleaning activity ended with the pleasant laughters of all the people.
